The Problem

Total Building Maintenance (TBM) submitted a bid proposal for a tennis and sports center in Austin that was looking for a new janitorial service provider. The center’s building facility manager opted to go with an out-of-state janitorial company whose proposal was $1,000 per month cheaper than TBM. Within three days of using the out-of-state company to clean his facility, the club members had complained so loudly about the poor service and lack of cleanliness by the new company that the center’s Site Director stepped in to resolve the issue.

TBM Solution

The Site Director contacted TBM on a Thursday morning with the issues he was facing and the lack of responsiveness from the out-of-town company. By evening, TBM’s Sales Manager and Operations Manager were able to assemble a temporary crew to clean the building in detail. Just two days later, TBM had trained and installed the permanent four-person crew to clean the building on a daily basis. The original bid proposal was for 5 days per week; however, the Sales and Operations Managers were able to build a case for daily service. The Site Director agreed.

Customer Response

The customer was understandably frustrated that the sports center had not adequately researched each of the vendors submitting bids for janitorial service. He was relieved that Total Building Maintenance was able to react quickly and without hesitation to prevent the members of the club from quitting.
