The Problem

The auto dealership’s white showroom tile was made of a new environmentally friendly (green) product that was difficult to clean through normal mopping and scrubbing. Even with frequent cleaning, their floors still looked dirty. Not exactly the ideal first impression to give their customers.

TBM Solution

The owner of Total Building Maintenance (TBM) immediately stepped in to resolve the issue, contacting the tile manufacturer to find out what cleaning specifications they had for this new tile product. However, because the product development was so new, the manufacturer had none. Taking the initiative, TBM’s owner contacted his local chemical vendor to schedule a joint meeting with the manufacturer to identify approved green chemicals for floor cleaning. Then, the joint team began testing specialized tile scrubbing machines onsite at the dealership to find the best chemical and equipment combination that would clean the dirt pockets in the tile crevices. After testing a variety of scrubber and chemical combinations, they found the right solution. TBM purchased a new scrubbing machine specifically to handle that location’s front showroom tile and implemented a customized cleaning regimen for the crew to complete on a weekly basis.
