Mom and Pops

These small organizations are usually operated by one or two employees (also the owners) who serve as both managers and janitorial staff. They typically offer a very competitive rate given their low overhead. However, with low overhead, come some significant drawbacks. Limited personnel and equipment mean they’re unable to handle mid-sized or large facilities. Service may be unreliable since there may be no substitutes available if illness, vacation, or family needs arise. Plus, they often lack appropriate business expertise, not to mention liability insurance to protect your buildings in the event of accidents. Any risk and exposure usually falls to your company in the event of catastrophe.
